I have to admit, I’m not super happy about the way I look right now. I’ve been achieving strength gains doing compound movements, but I have two areas on my body where I’m not seeing much progress and I guess it’s time to change something.

I’m going to add a protocol to my routine to see if anything changes. I have to admit, its not my favorite thing in the world, mostly because it sucks.

Yep, you guessed it, I’m going to add High Interval Intensity Training (HIIT).

So, here’s my pep talk (mostly to myself) to refresh my memory about the benefits of sprints and high intensity interval training.

  1. Sprints and HIIT are great for burning fat and improving cardiovascular health. When you engage in these types of workouts, your body burns a significant amount of calories, and the cardiovascular system is put to work. This can lead to improved heart health, reduced risk of heart disease, and increased stamina.
  2. Sprints and HIIT are efficient workouts. You can achieve a lot in a short amount of time with these types of exercises. Rather than spending hours at the gym, a 10-20 minute HIIT workout can give you a full body workout, and help you reach your fitness goals faster.
  3. Sprints and HIIT can help you build muscle. By doing exercises like sprints, you activate fast twitch muscle fibers which are important for explosive movements. When you activate these muscles, you build strength and help to tone and sculpt your body.
  4. Sprints and HIIT can help to improve your metabolism. By engaging in high intensity workouts, your body continues to burn calories even after the workout is over. This means that you’ll continue to burn calories at a higher rate even when you’re not exercising.
  5. Sprints and HIIT are versatile workouts that can be done anywhere. You don’t need fancy equipment or a gym membership to do these types of exercises. You can do them in a park, on a track, or even in your living room.

So there you have it. I’m going to add them at least once per week and see how it goes. Share with us your experience with HIIT training and if it helped you “Be Better”.
